Timeline

When passports arrive, year by year.

Batteries come first, in February 2027. Detergents, toys and vehicles follow on dates their own laws set, and the Commission plans acts for more product groups, each of which will set its own passport date.

Every entry says where it comes from:

  • From the text stated in the law's text
  • Our assumption our reading, with no text that states it
  • Commission planan indicative year, not a law

Reading a plan year

A planned act is not a passport date.

The Commission's working plan gives an indicative year for adopting each product group's act. The act then sets the rules and the passport date, which as a rule falls at least 18 months after the act comes into force. So a group whose act is planned for 2027 would, as a rule, need passports no earlier than the second half of 2028. Plan years can also move.

The plan years here are from the Ecodesign and Energy Labelling Working Plan 2025 to 2030, COM(2025) 187. Each act, once adopted, appears on the regulations page with its date, and this timeline updates with it.
